Kora - Olga Jackowska

First Lady of Polish Rock, author of original lyrics and poems. Vocalist of Maanam group.

Interview:

Music is strongly connected with plastic arts. Which visual side of your music publications is most accurate for the musical character of the record.

In the case of my records, they were mostly photographs. The famous covers of my first two albums were photographs by Jacek Szmuca. Jan Żabko-Potopowicz made a drawing for the album called "O!" and for "Night patrol" we used Dwurnik's paintings.

Do you think about the graphic side of the project (videoclip, album cover), while working on new compositions?

Rather not. We deal with that later.

You started your adventure with cartoons, giving your voice to one of the characters of "The Incredibles" (Polish dubbing version). Is there any other character which could speak in Kora's voice in your opinion?

I think that Edna was perfect for me, and as for the future I really don't know yet.

Together with Kamil Sipowicz you participate in many art events - exhibitions, shows, auctions. How do you find modern 'young' art in Poland?

Althamer, Kozyra, Żmijewski, Libera - these names make Polish art famous around the world and that is very good.

Is there any book, which had influence (positive or negative) on you in childhood because of illustrations, graphic design?

I do remember illustrations for Andersen's fairy tales, Pinokio, but I don't remember the names of illustrators. They impressed me very much. I think that they formed my visual imagination in some way.
